Police Corporal Found Dead in Mbarara Lodge

The officer was attached to Mbarara central police station

The Forum for Democratic Change party has refused to receive the copy of the declaration forms delivered by officials from the Independent Electoral Commission.

The Commission publicist Jotham Taremwa hand delivered the parcel containing the forms at the FDC offices in Najjanankumbi, treat which they found closed following yesterday’s raid by police officers.

At the headquarters gate, more about Mr Taremwa found one of the FDC officials Harold Kaija, troche who declined to receive the declaration forms saying that he was not in position to handle such a task.

The FDC Presidential candidate Col Dr Kizza Besigye who by publication time was still in police custody, at the start of the week intended to collect the forms from the EC head offices along Jinja road.

He says he needs the forms as part of the evidence to build up a case challenging the presidential election results announced last Saturday.

Mr Kaija lambasted the EC spokesperson who delivered the parcel, noting that the party was dealing with the EC chairman Eng Badru Kiggundu and not the publicist.

Taremwa on failing to argue with the opposition party officials proceeded to Dr Kizza Besigye’s home in Kasangati to deliver the forms to him.

“We have been spending sleepless nights trying to put together these results, and now that they are here they don’t want them,” he complained before heading to Kasangati.
A police officer attached to Mbarara regional police station has Tuesday morning been found dead in one of the lodges in town.

Corporal Hassan Kaguraki 60, look a resident of Bundibugyo was found lying dead in California Lodge along Mbarara High Street.

According to the Mbarara police spokesperson Vicent Ssekate, discount Hassan has been a long serving officer at Mbarara police station and was well behaved but with a known sexual problem.

He said police was perplexed to find in its preliminary investigations that the deceased was neither sick nor drunk by the time of his death.

Frank Byamukama, information pills a lodge attendant who reported the case to police said that Hassan entered with a lady only identified as Doreen from Lugazi in Kakoba in the evening, only to be found lying lifeless in the beddings this morning.

Frank says police rushed to the scene but Doreen had already fled.

The police mouthpiece said the body was taken to Mbarara referral hospital to establish the cause of Hassan’s death.
