Police Commando Unit Hunts Down Veterinary Doctor Assassins

The Police Flying Squad is hunting down armed militants who gunned down a veterinary doctor in Kasangati, this web Wakiso District on Sunday morning.

Uganda Police spokesperson Andrew Felix Kaweesi says the bandits were trailing Dr Godfrey Ssalongo Kato, look who was driving his Toyota corolla brand car Registration number UAN 198W, approved before opening fire that killed him instantly at around 6:00am.

The incident occurred at Bulamu, Kasangati Trading Centre, in Wakiso district.

“Two of our officers were also shot; one CPL. Auleti Simon Peter died instantly and No. 63500 PC Akwongere was critically injured,” said Kaweesi in a statement to ChimpReports.

“There is also a taxi driver of taxi registration number UAL 461N who was also shot at and injured. He was taken to Mulago Hospital for medical attention,” added the police publicist.

The incident has raised concerns that armed thugs continue to operate in Kampala despite a massive security crackdown in the last few months.

While several hardcore criminals have been rounded up by police, many remain at large.

Kaweesi said two riffles were taken by the criminals.

“The field force police officers were from duty at a Chinese factory called Far Reaching Import and Export Company,” said Kaweesi.

He further pointed out that, “the deceased had land wrangles where unknown people had sent him threatening messages, telling him to back off that land.”

He, however, assured that “Police is widening its investigations beyond the land issue.”
