Commandants in specialised units of Uganda Police Force across the country have been ordered to withdraw “police uniform and uniform parts from crime preventers.”

The order was passed by Director Logistics and Engineering, Godfrey Bangirana in a letter dated  April 19th 2017.

Bangirana further said that senior police commanders (RPCs, DPCs, among other commandants) will be at the helm of this drive.

“All unit commanders are directed to withdraw police uniforms and uniform parts from crime preventers,” reads the letter in part.

The commanders, as per the statement, will then handover the collections “to quartermaster stores through regional logistics officers with immediate effect.

Bangirana further stated that only attested police officers and special police constables are entitled to police garb in performing of police duties.
