Police Accused of Stealing Exhibits

The concern was raised yesterday during the security meeting held at Kyenshama trading center in Kashare Sub County where angry traders tasked police in the area to explain as to why they don’t receive their exhibits after investigations are concluded.

“I don’t understand where police and court puts our exhibits recovered with thieves after investigations, more about ” Jothan Bandana one of the residents ranted.

“The OC announced last time that 11 goats and 14 cows were recovered from criminals by police; where did those animals go?” Jothan said

In response to the matter, the OC station Kyenshama police post, Topher Akamanya said after receiving such cases, they usually forward the files together with the exhibits to the Rwizi regional head offices in Mbarara for further scrutiny and investigations.

“I have nothing to do with the exhibits; my work is very simple just to forward files and the said exhibits to my top bosses in Mbarara” Topher said.

At the meeting, the deputy RDC Mbarara Vincent Kamugisha
asked the locals to always remain calm when police is carrying out investigations since it’s a process that needs patience.

He promised to follow up the concerns about their missing exhibits at police and in courts of law.
