Pirates See Off Warriors to Claim League Summit

Buzz Pirates’ perfect start to the 2016/17 Rugby Premier League continued as they defeated Mutoni Warriors to go top of the table after two games.

Pirates who kicked off the season with a 27-08 win over Impis last week overcame Warriors in game two 24-15 on Friday at Legends rugby grounds.

The other tries for Pirates were scored by Jude Kirya and Timothy Kisaga while Ivan Magomu and Conrad Wanyama made a conversion each.

Warriors on the other hand scored two tries on the day through Owen Kinyera and Hillary Semusu while Gabriel Aredo made a conversion and scored a penalty.

The result means Pirates ascend to the league summit on 10 points in two games while Warriors who lost their first game 40-13 to Rimula Rhinos sit 8th on the 10 team league table.

Saturday fixtures

Betway Kobs vs Mongers 2:30pm – Legends
The defending champions began their title defence with an emphatic 67-07 win against Gulu Elephants and now play their first game at home against Entebbe Mongers who shocked Toyota Buffaloes last week.

Hima Cement Heathens vs Impis 4:30pm – Kyadondo
Heathens recorded the win with the biggest margin last week thumping Rams 61-00 and return in action against Impis who lost to Pirates 27-08.

Rhinos vs Buffaloes 4:30pm – Legends
Wounded lions, Toyota Buffaloes will be seeking for redemption as they visit Rimula Rhinos who seem a rejuvenated side this season.

Buffaloes lost to Mongers 35-07 in their first game while Rhinos overcame Mutoni Warriors 40-13.

Rams vs Gulu Elephants 4:30pm – Makerere
Both sides meet this weekend at the grave yard in Makerere after succumbing to heavy defeats in the opening week. Rams fell to Heathens while Gulu were massacred at home by Kobs
