The body of the fallen former, Uganda Peoples’ Congress (UPC), Maj. Edward Rurangaranga has Wednesday been received at the party headquarters at Uganda House.
The body was received by party president, Jimmy Akena in company of other party members including Gold Ruyondo and Mzee Yona Kanyomozi.
Kanyomozi eulogized the late as a determined man that help to build the party which developed Uganda and structured the direction of the country.
He noted that in his last meeting held last week, the late Rurangaranga wanted to see a united party having resolved all the grievances.
The former UPC party chairman succumbed to hypertension on Monday.
The suave leader who served as UPC Minister of State for Local Government (1981-1985), according to accounts by his widow, Winfred collapsed and died while taking tea at around 7:00pm.
Born in 1932, Rurangaranga died at the age of 85, leaving a widow and 8 children – three boys and five girls.
He will be laid to rest in Kitanjojo village, Kitagata in Sheema district.
