It’s that time of the year again when Africa gets to celebrate the best of its television entertainment both in quality and variety, all courtesy of Digital Television giants Mutichoice Africa who provide DStv and GOtv.
The 2015 Mutichoice Content showcase extravaganza is once again taking place in spacious island nation of Mautiritius, about 2000 Km off the South Eastern coast.
Several dozen journalists from across the continent flew in for a week of experiencing “Only the Best” as the show has come to be known.
And what a venue selection! As we rolled out of the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Airport down south though the countryside but very neat roads, the guide did proudly welcome us to ‘The Paradise’ and I could not help noticing some colleagues let out that jealousy groan.
The island is simply spacious. There’s barely any trace of impoverishment, just rich natural endowment.
And going by the Tuesday evening splendid welcome dinner at the Outrigger Resort Beach, there promises to be some fun-filled four days right ahead.
At the opening event, the new MutiChoice Africa CEO Tim Jacobs was excited to launch his first ever extravaganza at the helm of the pay television company.
Mr Jacobs said he was delighted that DSTV and GOtv had entrenched themselves and helped transform the people of Africa.
“Our MultiChoice business is built around people, content and entertainment,” he said.
“We believe that television is an extremely powerful tool that can educate, entertain and inform and therefore our aim is to make only the best content that is available to subscribers on every platform on any device and anywhere.”
The show was lit up with thrilling performances from top West African artists Mr Flavor, Ghanaian BET Award winning Collabo Stonebwoy, local [Mauritian] dancers and entertainment from Africa Magic Host IK Osakiodua.
Also in attendence were a number of Nollywood film stars including Jenavivve Naji, Ramsey Noah, Ritah Dominic, Desmond Elliot as well as Comedian Basket Mouth.
The evening was then climaxed with fireworks blazing over the serene Indian Ocean.
The Only the Best show runs up to Saturday this week and can be followed on social media via Twitter handle @MCAShowCase, Hash tag: #OnlyTheBest, Instagram: @Multichoice_Africa or via Facebook Group Only the Best.
