Aaha Sabiiti Jeremiah, 3, and Ahamya Sabiiti Nehemiah, 2 months old, were baptized at 2.30 pm in a colorful ceremony presided over by the Rev. Canon. Johnson Twinomujuni from Ankole Diocese based in Mbarara.

The UPDF Special Forces Commander, Maj. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who graced the church function accompanied by his wife Charlotte, was one of the God-parents.

Brig. Tom Tumuhairwe of the UPDF and other officers, the Police Director of Human Resource, Mr. Andrew Kaweesi, Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs, Mr. Moses Byaruhanga, and the NBS Television CEO Mr. Kin Kariisa among other faithful attended the church service.

First Daughter Natasha Karugire and her husband, prominent city lawyer Mr. Edwin Karugire, were also in attendance. The entourage was after the baptism mass later hosted to a sumptuous reception at Hotel Protea in lower Kololo.

Canon Twinomujuni in his sermon implored upon the youth to strive to be healthy, fear God, develop clearly defined strategic objectives in life, and above all have the faith in God’s ability to deliver success to their lives.

On his part, Maj. Gen. Kainerugaba congratulated the couple for initiating their children into the Christian faith, which he observed is the foundation for other core values in life.

“I thank Brig. Sabiiti for being very hard working and dependable. He barely has time for his young family, but is steadfast. Brig Sabiiti is one of the most brilliant officers we have in the UPDF today,” said Gen. Kainerugaba.

Brig. Sabiiti thanked his family, friends, and superiors for supporting him in his work, and promised that he would strive to uphold and promote the ideals of strong Christian ethics and values to his children.
