At the venue, a big number of supporters mobilized by another aspiring Member of Parliament and former KFM presenter Aisha Alibhai gave Mbabazi the heartiest welcome to the Teso land.

Meanwhile, as Mbabazi reached for his seat, the area Regional Police Commander Phillip Acaye silently approached him and asked him to leave the venue.

The former Premier was however not ready to drop the idea and this could be seen by his facial expressions. The Police boss was later seen leaving after the futile talks.

“I heard it right from Kampala that authorities had issues with rallies but I kept quiet. They thought I had no support but when I came out, they were surprised and could not take it,” he said.

He added,” The RPC told me he had got orders to stop the rally but I told him I very well knew the law and I was acting in accordance to the law. What they are trying to do is stopping what is inevitable.”

Mbabazi later vacated the sports grounds and held another procession throughout Soroti town before meeting a few of his supporters at Lions Club and later left Soroti.

He however promised to continue with his other scheduled consultative meetings in other areas around the country.
