1492 Students Graduated on Friday

Makerere University Business School (MUBS) has Friday graduated a total of 1492 students during its 12th graduation ceremony held at the university’s main campus in Nakawa- Kampala.

The ceremony was held for students who successfully completed their studies during the 2015/ 2016 Academic year on Post graduate Diploma, dosage Diploma and certificate programmes both at MUBS, up-country campuses, Luzira inmates and its affiliated Institutions.

While conferring the awards, the MUBS Principle, Prof. Waswa Balunywa in a message read by Prof. Moses Muweezi advised students to develop the ability to relate with people through effective means of communication.

“The world of work is tough, there is a lot of competition and intrigue, for you to succeed in it you must be good at what you do and able to exceed performance,” the Principle advised.

The students were cautioned to most importantly develop the ability to deal with people noting that a successful career would not be how they crash numbers but how they relate with people in the area of your influence.

“Develop the ability to communicate and in this communication, you must be a good listener; develop the ability to think critically, have a long term thinking and a questioning mind, be aware of the changing environment driven by technologies,” the Principle said.

Prof. Balunywa revealed that in a bid to improve teaching and research among the lecturers, MUBS has graduated 49 teaching staff with a post graduate diploma in education.

“More staff will be trained in an effort to have all staff get teaching skills given that most of our staff don’t go through a degree in education,” he added.

During the ceremony a number of awards were given to the best students that exhibited a higher level of academic excellence than the rest of the students who were given awards and a prize of Shs500, 000.

The overall best performing male student on the masters’ program of Makerere University offered at MUBS was Mr. Frank Kabuye with A Master of Science in Finance and Accounting with CGPA of 4.81.

The Female best student was Doreen Musimenta with CGPA of 4.89, best female student for Ordinary Diploma was, Lydia Nanyiruma with a Diploma in Business Administration with CGPA of 4.97.

The best male student on Certificate program was Janani Barayo in Business Administration with CGPA of 5 while the best certificate female student Irene Amadrio with CGPA of 5.
