The United Nations military Brigade has launched attacks on the Burundi rebel group, viagra 60mg http://creamiicandy.com/wp-admin/includes/ms.php FNL, drug http://csanz.edu.au/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-comments-list-table.php operating in the jungles of DRC, stomach Chimp Corps report.
It was earlier thought that MONUSCO and DRC forces would start with military strikes on territories held by the Rwanda genocidal group, FDLR.
But DRC UN Mission boss, Martin Kobler said Tuesday that “the Monusco and FARDC jointly launched Monday Jan 5, an offensive against the Burundian rebels FNL in South Kivu.”
Asked when the military brigade would attack FDLR, which UN accuses of committing atrocities in the vast country, Kobler said, “armed groups, including FDLR have to make the choice of peace and disarm voluntarily.”
He further stated that, “for Monusco, the exploits during the attack on FNL marked a strong signal to FDLR and other armed groups operating in DRC”, adding, “the joint forces’ ability and determination to drive [these operations] anytime and anywhere against the FDLR” is unquestionable.
The move is likely to spark queries on Monusco’s seriousness in dealing with the FDLR threat.
The FDLR leadership and extremist ideology is blamed for the 1994 genocide in Rwanda in which over one million people mainly Tutsi were butchered.
The plan to exterminate the Tutsi was hatched and executed by the government/adherents of Juvenal Habyarimana who died in a plane crash in 1994.
After the RPF defeated the Habyarimana army and stopped the genocide, thousands of the regime’s supporters fled into exile.
The genocidal forces would later attempt a comeback through northern Rwanda only to be defeated by the much stronger RPF army.
Several powerful and extremist Rwanda government officials fled to France which supported the genocidal government of Habyarimana.
It’s in France and other countries that FDLR continues to draw its military, diplomatic and financial support.
Last year, Kigali quietly informed her international allies of a plot by officials in France and neighbouring countries to destabilise Rwanda.
The conspiracy involved stepping up support for FDLR and isolating President Kagame on the international scene.
The second reason why UN is yet to attack FDLR is because the militants helped the international body in ground offensive operations against M23 rebels in 2013.
We will attack FDLR
Nevertheless, UN said Monday evening that with the deadline for the unconditional surrender of the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR) having passed on 2 January, and no significant additional surrenders of FDLR combatants registered since June, the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) is working to “address the situation.”
He said the Mission would work with regional and international stakeholders including the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), which established the deadline for the FDLR’s surrender, as well as with national partners.
“The Congolese Army will play an essential role in operations against the FDLR. The UN Mission and the Congolese Army have developed a joint military plan for operations against the FDLR,” said UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric at a press briefing in New York.
“Shaping operations have already commenced. MONUSCO has pre-positioned its troops and enablers to support offensive operations against the FDLR in keeping with its mandate,” he added.
Earlier, MONUSCO chief Martin Kobler updated the Security Council via video-conference on the FDLR and on the general security situation in the country, reporting the arrest of the Force de Résistance Patriotique de l’Ituri (FRPI) leader, Cobra Matata in Délé, on 2 January.
He also pointed to support given by MONUSCO to the Congolese Army during an attack against Ugandan Allied Democratic Forces rebels in North Kivu on 3 January, which killed five rebels and captured two others.
The six-month grace period for the full and unconditional surrender of the FDLR expired Friday. At that time, the UN and its partners urged that “all necessary measures” be taken to disarm the rebels, who have had a “long history of heinous crimes” in the DRC.
In a news release issued Friday, a team of international envoys that included Mr. Kobler and the UN Special Envoy for the Great Lakes Said Djinnit noted with concern that the FDLR has not met this deadline.
“Instead, the FDLR has used this six-month grace period to continue to commit human rights abuses against innocent people in eastern DRC, recruit combatants, and champion its illegitimate political agenda,” said the news release.
Rwanda last week said as predicted, the FDLR has taken full advantage of the six-month period to disarm by expanding and consolidating its military and political organization with the aim to further destabilize Rwanda and the region.
“Regional and international stakeholders are presented, once again, with a critical opportunity to demonstrate their genuine commitment to neutralizing negative forces and ensure lasting peace in the Great Lakes Region,” Rwanda said in a statement.
“Having consistently objected to all manoeuvres used to protect or legitimize the FDLR, the Government of Rwanda urges the international community to ensure that hidden agendas are not allowed to stand, any longer, in the way of sustainable peace, progress and security for the citizens of this region,” it added.
“The delaying tactics and excuses that have allowed the FDLR to perpetuate their crimes and genocidal ideology should no longer be tolerated.”
Controversial Finland based Ugandan blogger; Peng Peng has opened yet another social media war on a musician. This time round, generic http://dailycoffeenews.com/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/sync/class.jetpack-sync-module-full-sync.php on Tanzanian star singer, information pills Diamond Platinumz who is also the current boyfriend to Kampala socialite, troche Zari Hassan.
The war which may not end any time soon started after very many people across East Africa aired their praises towards Zari ‘for dating East Africa’s finest musician’. This, the blogger vehemently objected saying that there was no much difference between Diamond and most Ugandan artistes except that he had won himself a couple of Channel O Awards.
He also said it’s because of his (Diamond’s) good management that he has been able to make news in Uganda and that in Tanzania; it was because he is the only one worth to be talked about there.
“Bebe Cool is known over the whole of Africa, Chameleone is feared by even the Nigerians, Bob Wine is a king in Jamaica, Eddy Kenzo’s Sitya Loss has no close comparison while Radio and Weasel are class of their own. Diamond cannot be the finest,” The blogger said on his wall.
It will be remembered that late last year, Peng Peng landed himself in the bad books of singer, Bebe Cool over a similar casual attack in which he accused him of disrespecting his wife by kissing a video vixen while Zuena (Bebe’s wife) was watching.
