Government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo is among the first people to congratulate Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi upon ‘winning’ the Kyadondo East constituency parliamentary seat although vote tallying is still going on.
Opondo, also the deputy spokesperson of ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) took to his twitter to congratulate Bobi Wine who is likely to win by landslide – at least according to preliminary election results.
“So Bobi Wine is beating everyone; NRM, FDC hands down in Kyadondo East by elections. Congratulations although still early,” he tweeted.
FDC Secretary General, Nathan Nandala Mafabi took the same road, congratulating Bobi Wine upon the victory which he called a landslide.
“On behalf of FDC, I would like thank our supporters for the support. Congratulations to Bobi Wine; provisional results indicate a landslide,” he wrote on his twitter timeline.
Although he contested as an independent candidate, Bobi Wine has a history of working closely with the FDC.
During the February 2016 general elections, Bobi Wine was among the people who condemned the impugned house arrest of former Presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye and continued to stand with him even after he was slapped with different charges.
Earlier, Besigye also relayed his congratulations to Bobi Wine through his twitter.
By publication time, official results hadn’t been declared yet.
