One Killed, 16 Injured in Mbarara Accident

One person has died on spot and sixteen others escaped with injuries after Fuso truck rammed into a coaster at Nyakaigoro, treat Nyihanga along the Mbarara-Kabale road.

The Coaster registration number UAV 438N was heading to Kisiizi in Rukungiri, pills carrying people from one of the churches in Kampala. These were reportedly heading for an introduction ceremony.

At around 4 am in the morning, the Fuso truck carrying empty plastic bottles hit the bus from behind, forcing it off the road to roll several times.

Rwizi region police commander Vincent Ssekate confirmed the accident saying that the driver of the Fuso Track failed to control the vehicle when the coaster he was following hit a hump at Nyihanga.

The person who died on sport was identified as Alex Nkomejimene, a resident of Lugunja, Kampala.

The injured were taken to Mbarara regional referral hospital for treatment and the body to the mortuary for postmortem.

In another development two accidents happened yesterday; one involving a Redpepper Premio number UAQ 257B and UPDF double cabin Number D04DF 060 on Mbarara-Ibanda road, leaving 5 injured.

Another on Mbarara-Bushenyi road at Kafunjo cell in Katojo parish involved a Toyota Premio Number UAJ 476P which knocked a Toyota Carib while trying to dodge a motorcycle.

Four people were seriously injured including a senior inspector of schools from the Ministry of Education Mrs. Sabiti Busingye, her daughter Apophia Natumanya, Adrida Turyamuhebwa and Sedrack Gumohurire.
