Ocaya, Mawejje Return as Micho Names Squad for Comoros Duty

Uganda Cranes and El Merreikh first choice goalie, approved Salim Jamal has confirmed his unavailability for the 2017 Afcon qualifier against Comoros later on Saturday.

“Fast and foremost I take this chance to thank the  almighty for the life we live today and giving me a
chance to be recognized by my country Uganda  for the call up of the coming game Comoros vs
Uganda this weekend.

I take this chance to inform all my fans and  people at home that I could not make it to join
the rest of the team in the camp due to the league game (Tuesday) and Sudan cup coming on monday and still  recovering .I respect my nation and feel happy to  be on the list of the 24 man mentioned early by
the coach Micho and the letter sent to my club  for the preparations of the game by FUFA I am really  happy, sales ” Salim posted.

On Monday, Salim had hinted to ChimpSport that his release was pending since he had not received any official communication, “I dont know if i will come because I haven’t received any official communication yet. What i know is am in tomorrow’s (Tuesday) game.”

El Merreikh lost 1-2 to fifth place Al Hilal Obayed in Tuesday match in which Salim Feautered. They will welcome Al Shendy on 7th in a bid to catch-up with runaway leaders, Al Ahly Omdurman.
Uganda Cranes head coach, advice Milutin ‘Micho’ has selected a squad of eighteen players to represent the country in the upcoming 2017 Afcon qualifier match against Comoros on Saturday 5th September at the Mitsamiouli Stadium.

A total of five players from the local league and thirteen international pros have been selected for the daunting away task.

Among them is Uganda Kobs skipper Farouk Miya, clinic KCCA midfield trio of Joseph Ochaya, Muzamir Mutyaba and Ivan Ntege. The other is Richard Kasagga.

Perharps the most eye-catching inclusion is Tonny Mawejje.

“Iam happy to represent my country again. There was a small issue but its sorted now,” Mawejje briefly told ChimpSport after Wednesday training.

“He had no club, so i advised him to get one first. Now he is here and will be a big addition to the club. He is among the three most experienced players in the team,” coach Micho said.
