The Managing Director of the National Water and Sewerage Corporation, Eng. Dr. Silver Mugisha together with other officials from the corporation have Wednesday carried out an inspection of water and sanitation facilities around the Kampala city.

The tour, according officials was aimed at recording feedback from beneficiaries of NWSC projects in the city for better service delivery.

“You cannot manage what you don’t know. You can’t just sit in office and imagine that all is ok. Working with local leaders, I will often visit the field to note feedback from our customers.” Said Eng Mugisha.

Good gesture NWSC top management. It is indeed a very rare activity from most public service providers as most of the CEOs and top management prefer the comfort of their air-conditioned offices. And your services and customer care in my opinion are generally only next to the telecommunication service providers but so far the best among public service providers.

I however have some two issues for NWSC top management consideration:-
    1. the consumers generally are not sensitised enough to appreciate the value of our water, and to conserve it as a very precious resource, considering the fact that it is a non-renewable resource. Secondly, the process it takes NWSC to process the water to the purity and amount of resources that go into the entire process to the level of supplying it to the consumer are so immense. But these facts are not appreciated by majority of the consumers, and are taken for granted. I normally get pissed when I see this valuable resource being used to wash cars, water plants, etc, when alternative sources such as rain water could be harnessed and used. NWSC needs to educate and sensitise the public that it is not just a matter of paying for the water by the consumer!

    2. I and I belive other customers normally pay upfront, and always have money on their NWSC water accounts. I would appreciate that such consideration be made whenever rushing to disconnect such a customer who may simply forget to update his or her water account with NWSC.

    Otherwise, well done.
