NRM’s Kasule Lumumba Concedes Defeat in Kyadondo By Elections

NRM Secretary General, Justine Kasule Lumumba

Justine Kasule Lumumba, the ruling National Resistance Movement Secretary General has accepted the party’s early defeat in the Kyadondo East constituency Parliamentary polls.

The NRM had fronted Sitenda Sebalu as the party flag bearer although according to preliminary results, he stands no chance.

Sitenda was running against FDC’s Apollo Kantinti, Independent Muwada Nkunyingi, Sowedi Kayongo and Robert Kyagulanyi who is currently in the lead.

Posting on her twitter timeline, Lumumba said; “Congratulations to the people of Kyadondo East, congratulations to Kyagulanyi Robert Sentamu.”

During campaign time, Lumumba led a team of NRM delegates to Kyadondo to solicit support for Sebalu who had lost to Kantinti in the 2016 elections.

The team consisted of Deputy Secretary General Richard Todwong and other top party officials.

President Museveni who doubles as the party chairperson was in the constituency on Wednesday where he called upon voters to send him Sebalu instead of “unaligned Bobi Wine.”

NRM as a party is yet to issue a statement about the same.

Vote tallying is still going on at the constituency tally centre at Kasangati Saza ground.
