NRM To Punish Fort Portal Mayor for Campaigning for FDC

Fort Portal municipality mayor Edison Asaba Ruyonga Adyeeri is in trouble and faces retribution for hobnobbing with opposition political parties.

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party is now considering disciplinary action against the Mayor who openly campaigned and promoted the opposition FDC party.

Asaba Ruyonga reportedly used the recent public rally held at public Library to praise the FDC party.

He asked the people to support FDC candidate Bintamanya in the 2016 general elections.

Mr. Kamulindwa Patrick, ed the Kabarole district NRM registrar has condemned the mayor’s behavior saying that this was in contravention of the party constitution and the code of conduct.

He said that Ruyonga is to be summoned to face disciplinary action for what he has done; tarnishing the image of the party.

Kamulindwa said he is in consultation with his party bosses at the secretariat on what should be done to the mayor.

Before he became the mayor Fort Portal, Ruyonga was an FDC member but changed after top NRM cadres threatened him that the municipality would not be funded if he continued supporting the opposition. He reportedly changed and joined NRM party but he remained FDC at heart.
