Addressing the media in Kyadondo, store Kampala, the NRM Campaign Task force spokesperson, Mike Kennedy Ssebalu said the ruling party cannot involve itself in such illegality.
“We don’t intend to put up a tally center, it is illegal and we don’t intend to break the law at any stage during this election exercise,” Ssebalu observed.
“We know that all electoral powers are vested in the hands of the Electoral Commission that only has the power to announce election results,” Ssebalu said.
Ssebalu advised other political parties that plan to put up their now tally centers to cancel such arrangements, noting that results from these centers would never be taken seriously.
The TDA Go Forward pressure group led by candidate AmamaMbabazi and the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) whose presidential candidate is Dr. Kizza Besigye recently publicized plans to conduct their own tallying at their centers.
