NRM Mobilizer Defects to FDC

Kampala Capital City Authority has cautioned the public to desist from dumping garbage and discharging waste in channels and drains. This is in a bid for the Authority to mitigate the damage caused by the high amounts of rains and floods expected this season.

The Authority urged the public in a statement to respect channel reserves and be flexible in providing space for channel extensions.

KCCA has also condemned the tendency of encroaching and filling of wetlands with murrum which has been on a rise.

“Those that will contravene the law by dumping waste in the drainage channels or constructing in wetlands is set to face prosecuted in courts of Law.”

These floods that have already claimed lives property last week are being attributed to the city’s topography which comprises of hills and valleys with large volumes ending up in valleys.

KCCA says that the problem has further been worsened by human settlements and industrial developments that have extended to the lower lying areas on the banks of the drainage channels.

“Exiting channels in the Kyambogo-Ntida area have also been widened and deepened, demolition of perimeter walls encroaching on the channels and sensitizing developers on proper development practices.”

 

 
Allan Kitonsa the former NRM Makindye Division Publicity Secretary for Mobilization has declared that he has ‘seen the light’ and decided to cross to the opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC).

“FDC is the biggest party that looks more serious and organized than all the others. I think that we share a lot of aspirations with FDC,” Kitonsa noted.

“When you remain opposing as an individual, you can’t effect the desired change in the country; you must have a team to confront the status quo.”

Kitonsa also announced that he is contesting for the similar post in Makindye Division in the FDC grassroots elections that are to be held over the weekend
