The Central Executive Committee of the ruling National Resistance Movement has maintained Hon Rebecca Kadaga as the Speaker of Parliament, viagra 100mg http://coastcakes.co.uk/wp-admin/maint/repair.php and Hon Jacob Oulanyah as her deputy as has been the case in the 9th Parliament.
The decision was taken only moments before the party caucus could go to polls to election the party flag bearer for Speakership, seek for which the two were fighting for.
The other seven contenders who were eyeing the deputy speaker’s seat were also asked to step down by CEC.
This was announced to the caucus which convened at State House in Entebbe, nurse by NRM Electoral Commission Chairman Dr Tanga Odoi amidst ululations from majorly the supporters of the incumbent speaker.
The meeting was chaired by President Yoweri Museveni, who is also the ruling party’ national chairman.
While addressing the meeting, Museveni revealed that the decision was taken through consensus.
He said, “Many heads are better than one. When we met (as CEC) we put our heads together and made the recommendation, which we later put to more heads in the caucus.”
Hinting on the heated campaigns for speakership that preceded this decision, Museveni strongly warned the party against animosity, which he compared to playing with fire.
He lectured, “I would like to appeal to all the organs of NRM to learn this method of work; Fire is good only when it is in the fire place.”
Commenting on the decision, Speaker Kadaga expressed gratitude to CEC and remarked that she was deservingly rewarded, having worked for the party since her youth.
