The party Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson, more about http://celiac-disease.com/wp-content/plugins/yet-another-related-posts-plugin/classes/yarpp_meta_box_contact.php Dr. Tanga Odoi revealed that after the seat was declared vacant by the national electoral commission, the party has rolled out a program for party primaries so as to come out with suitable candidates that will favorably compete with the opposition.
The ruling party will at a later date run primaries for all the vacant seats which include; Aruu North County MP, Woman MP for Moroto, Kamuli Municipality MP and for the LC V Chairpersons of Tororo district.
Tanga noted that all interested persons must be an NRM member, a born or resident in the electoral area and must have certified ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level Certificates or their equivalent.
“Expression of interest starts on Monday 27, February to 1st March and all forms shall be picked from the party Electoral Commission offices and the party shall appoint a date, time and place for joint campaign and polling. Anyone who wishes to stand for a position of a Municipality must write to the NRM EC expressing interest must pay a fee of only Sh2m non-refundable.”
Tanga warned against involvement in any illegal practices such as bribery, procurement of ineligible persons to vote, obstruction of voters and Election officials, soliciting for votes n polling day and unauthorized or multiple voting.
Commenting on whether Wetongola will be allowed to pick nominations for the party primaries, Tanga responded that this will only happen once she presents new certified academic documents.
“If Hajati Wetongola thinks she has the papers and expresses interest, we shall subject her to primaries like other candidates and we shall put to scrutiny her academic papers. We shall wait to see what new papers she has, may be she sat for senior six within the period.”
