St. Mary’s Kitende put up a spirited performance to edge past hard fighting Kibuli SS in the semifinal of the 2017 National post primary school tournament.
In a repeat of last year’s final, visit this site St. Mary’s won 2-1 to earn revenge against Kibuli SS at the Arena playground in Masaka town.
Brian Kalumba scored a first half brace to help Kitende reach the final despite Joel Jangeyange pulling one back for Kibuli.
As early as the 5th minute, Kalumba had scored the opener at the muddy arena pitch and he scored another for Kitende to take a comfortable 2-0 halftime lead.
Kibuli came back the better side after restart making several chances as Kitende resorted to time wasting tactics.
Joel Jagenyange scored arguably the goal of the tournament, a scorcher from about 45 yards to give Kibuli hopes of a comeback.
However, Kitende held on to win the game 2-1 and storm the finals where they will take on Jinja SS who earlier on defeated Nakaseke International in the first semifinal.
The final will be played on Saturday at Masaka Recreational ground but Kibuli will take on Nakaseke first at 2pm in the third place playoff.
