The Shop Africa Report indicated that Africa’s population has more than doubled over the last thirty years to just over 1.1 billion.
The report studied 47 African countries excluding South Africa which is estimated to have 23 million square meters of shopping center space.

Police have apprehended 11 suspected robbers who have been terrorizing suburbs of Kampala including Kawempe and Bukoto.

He added, “This followed specific intelligence leads picked from a robbery in Bukoto on February 4, that we were able to track the group leading to the arrests.”
The police mouthpiece added that their operation initially led to the arrest of 4 suspects who led them to the other members of the group that operated between Bukoto and Kawempe.
Enanga revealed that the group together with others still at large has been terrorizing people since November where they carefully orchestrated armed robberies and related murders.
“They have been most active between January and February with 4 incidents of shooting that led to 2 murders .On November 15, dressed in army green attire and armed with a gu, the group attacked and robbed 6 people at Lugoba Trading Centre,”Enanga noted.
Enanga says the group shot several bullets in a pharmacy before taking off with over three million shillings.
He added that on 2 occasions the gang shot people they suspected of following them.
He revealed that the police have since recovered an SMG rifle but are still looking for the second one, 110 rounds of ammunition, Toyota Ipsum vehicle and a Bajaj motorcycle.
“We are still investigating to establish whether given the incidents of shooting that led to 2 murders and the entire spate of violent criminality is politically motivated in a bid to cause fear and panic to the public,” Enanga said.
