Nominations: 4 MP Candidates Unopposed

Roke Telecom in partnership with Google’s Project Link on Thursday launched the largest consumer WiFi network in Kampala.


Roke Telecom’s WiFi network will use google’s Project Link fiber with over 120 hotspots around Kampala allowing people to access the internet on their phones, visit this site http://corephysio.ca/scripts/form/language/greek-utf-8.php tablets and any other WiFi capable device.

Project Link first started by building a super-fast fiber network in Kampala that could be used by any mobile operator or Internet service provider to help them improve the quality of access and launch new services, http://christchurchcathedral.org.au/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-internal-pointers.php such as 4G.

By bringing abundant capacity to the city, which is used today by a dozen local providers, Project Link’s fiber network is providing a foundation for better connectivity in Uganda’s capital.

As with the Project Link fiber network, the Wi-Fi hotzone network will equip mobile network operators (MNOs) and Internet service provider (ISPs) with infrastructure they need to deliver improved services to end users.

Speaking during the launch, John Nasasira Minister of Information, Communications and Technology thanked google for choosing Uganda as the first country for this project.

He divulged that the Ministry is also developing a national broadband strategy which presents a unified approach to planning, investment and development of broadband infrastructure as well as services at national and regional levels in order to provide affordable and reliable access to broadband resources for all citizens.

”With the help of Project Link’s new Wi-Fi hotzone network, Internet providers in Kampala will have access to shared infrastructure that can help them enhance their Wi-Fi services and meet the bandwidth needs of Uganda’s largest city,” said Ela Beres, Project Lead on the Wi-Fi effort.

“Local providers can use this new network to bring Wi-Fi to people on-the-go in the city’s busiest locations,” he added.

“Lately Uganda has experienced phenomenal growth in demand for Internet, fueled by the advent of lower-cost smartphones,” said Roger Sekaziga, Chief Executive Officer of Roke Telkom.

““Project Link’s Wi-Fi network allows us to deliver cheaper and more reliable Wi-Fi service to a quickly-growing, often underserved market segment,” he added.
A total of four MP candidates nearly have both their feet inside the 10th parliament after being nominated unopposed by the Independent Electoral Commission for their respective constituencies.

The nomination exercise for MP contenders conducted by the EC closed on Thursday with thousands showing interest for direct constituency seats, visit web http://chelseamamma.co.uk/wp-includes/class-oembed.php district women representatives and People With Disability (PWDs) representation.

All positions registered multiple candidates with the exception of four and all in Western Uganda. In Buyaga County in Kibale district, approved the incumbent Barnabas Tinkasimiire was the only candidate nominated.

The controversial legislator fiercely defeated the former National Resistance Movement National Youth Chairman, Denis Namara during primary elections making the former the ruling party`s candidate.

In Nyabushozi County in Kiruhura district, one of the 27 NRA historical members Col. Fred Mwesigye was the only candidate nominated by the end of business yesterday. Col. Mwesigye is the incumbent and also the Chairman parliamentary committee on Presidential Affairs.

Ms. Asamo Hellen is another lucky politician waiting for May 5th 2016 to be sworn in, unless a natural calamity strikes. She is the only candidate for PWDs for the Eastern region. In Bushenyi district, Thomas Tayebwa was the sole contender nominated for MP Ruhinda North.
