Nkata Named KPL November Best Coach

Coach Paul Nkata has won the first double for Tusker in their 47 years of existence

Coach Paul Nkata’s colorful season in the Kenya Premier League has continued to emit sparks. The soft spoken Tusker FC tactician has been named the November Fidelity Insurance Coach of the Month.

The achievement follows an impressive performance which saw the brewers record identical 1-0 wins over giants AFC Leopards and Gormahia FC to claim the league title.

The selection is made by the Sports Journalist Association of Kenya (SJAK) whose members vote the winner from a pool of nominees. Nkata scooped 22 votes, there eight ahead of Francis Baraza who helped Sofapaka to escape the chop on final day.

“It is a sign of the good work we have done and we want to keep working hard to make Tusker more successful.”

The accolade is accompanied by a cash prize of about one million, seven hundred thousand shillings (KES 50,000).

Nkata is the first Ugandan coach to win the monthly award in the Kenya Premier League. He recently became the first coach to win both the League championship and Cup title (GOTV) in Tusker’s entire 47-year history.

The former Uganda Jobs coach joined Tusker FC at the beginning of the KPL season from Muhorony Youth FC.

Celebration Tour

He is expected to guide the team in their celebration tour to Uganda this weekend with an international friendly against champions KCCA FC in the cards on Saturday.

“Next year we’ll have very tough assignments in the champions league so we’ll have a short break over festive season then embark on preparations for 2017. One or two additions are necessary in the squad but don’t expect very drastic changes.” he added.
