Nile Breweries Limited (NBL) beer brand, link Nile Special have renewed their sponsorship package with Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA).
The deal was officially unveiled on Monday in a function held at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala.
Nile Special who have been the main funders of the sports scribes umbrella body for the last decade renewed their marriage to the tune of UGX 160M for one year.
While unveiling the package, cheapest Nile Breweries sponsorships manager Francis Nyende indicated that USPA has helped in monitoring sports personalities and also giving them the platform.
“We have continued working with USPA because they help in monitoring performances of the athletes. The awards issued out motivate them and USPA also provides a platform for the excelling athletes, case ” he said.
Sabbiti Muwanga, the President USPA thanked Nile Breweries for the continued support and promised to keep the partnership going.
“We are proud to associate with Special because they have immensely invested in sports and thus we promise to keep this marriage forever,” Muwanga noted.
Despite signing just one year, Francis Nyende intimated that negotiations are along the lines to have a better and longer sponsorship package.
The 160M will be divided into three positions with 100M going towards organizing this year’s USPA awards gala, 45M for the quarterly dinners and 15M as a retainer fund for the association.
The monthly awards will still be conducted but the crowning ceremonies have been changed to a quarterly basis.
Muwanga explained that this has been done to allow better preparations and also adds anxiety coming after three months rather than monthly.
This year’s USPA gala has been tentatively fixed on 14th July at Imperial Royale where 2016 best sports personalities will be awarded.
