New Security Measures at Education Ministry as Janet Takes Office

New security measures are being taken at the Ministry of Education Offices as First Lady Janet Museveni takes her office as its new head.

Mrs. Museveni was ‘promoted’ to the third most funded ministry this year, site from the Ministry of Karamoja Affairs by President Yoweri Museveni.

She is expected to be handed the new office by the outgoing Minister Jessica Alupo on Monday June 27th at 10pm.

At the Ministry, cheapest an eye catching internal memo spelling new security procedures made it to the public domain on Thursday.

“We have been advised that in order to ensure security on that day, ed no staff except the Ministers and Permanent Secretary will be allowed to park in the parking lot,” read part of the memo. “You are therefore advised to find parking elsewhere to avoid inconveniences.”

In the security guidelines, staffers at the Ministry have also been barred from entering the building with electronic gadgets such as mobile phones, pads laptops etc.

These will be kept by security at the ground floor until the end of the function.

A few days ago when the first lady was being screened by the Parliamentary Appointments Committee, she told the members that she would come as an advantage because she would require no security resources from the Ministry’s budget since hers is catered for by State House.

Nonetheless, the Ministry has in the past days expressed hope that Mrs Museveni will turn around the education sector.

“Whatever challenges there has been; lack of teachers, poor payments and infrastructure, we know that the minister will now be communicating directly with the President,” said Rose Nassali, the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary.
