The new Dutch Ambassador to Uganda H.E Henk Jan Bakker has arrived in Uganda to commence work as head of Mission, look http://dailyampersand.com/wp-content/plugins/contact-form-7/includes/functions.php according to the Netherlands Embassy in Kampala.
Henk Bakker who was previously representing Netherlands to Kabul in Afghanistan was approved by cabinet along with 22 others by Dutch foreign minister Bert Koenders in December last year.
He replaces Alphons Hennekens who has since retired diplomacy.
Ambassador Bakker studied Masters Degree in Political Science at Leiden University between 1984 and 1991. In his first official message upon arrival in the country, Ambassador Bakker said; “I am delighted to have finally arrived in Uganda to serve as the Dutch Ambassador at our Embassy in Kampala. Looking forward to my time here.”
“The Netherlands has an important bilateral relationship with Uganda and I would very much like to see that relationship continue to develop, and to get to know the people that make Uganda the Pearl of Africa,” he added.
Before his ambassadorial duty in Afghanistan, he was Head of Entrepreneurship and Business Development between 2010 and 2011 and later Deputy Director Human Resource Netherlands in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Netherlands from 2011 to 2014.
As a diplomat, Bakker has served in South Africa and United Kingdom.
