Nkumba lady marines 71-50 KIU rangers
Pemba Warriors 72-66 Betway Power
It was a man of the match performance from Michael Buzangu that helped Warriors to sail swiftly past Betway Power with a 72-66 victory in an ill-tempered encounter at YMCA indoor court in Wandegeya.
Buzangu who registered 36 points, which is half of what his team mates managed to collect on the day, gathered 7 rebounds as Michael Ntumba’s side broke Betway Power’s unbeaten streak.
Power have themselves to blame for fouling the wrong person as Buzangu converted 9 of the 13 free throws on what should be his night to remember.
At the other end of the court, Michael Makiadi scored 21 points and 13 rebounds but the supporting cast of Odong Paul, Kojo Micheal, Joseph Ikong, Isaac Afidra and Ssebatindira Fahmy were completely chasing shadows, as the later managed to convert only one of all the seven shots he took from downtown.
In the ladies game, Brenda Ekone notched 27 points all from inside the paint as Nkumba Lady Marines recorded a 71-50 victory against Nimrod Kaboza’s KIU Rangers.
Dianah Nanjala, who ended on the losing side, collected a double-double of 10 points and 15 defensive rebounds.
The 2017 National Basketball league season will resume on Sunday with 6 matches at MTN indoor Arena in Lugogo.
