KIU Titans 70-69 Power

Kampala International University (KIU) Titans outlived Power basketball team to take advantage in game one.

The Hamza Nyambogo coached side had Chris Omanye, shop Suudi Ulanga, Samuel Aguttu, Geoffrey Soro and Ivan Lumanyika as the starting five and took the first quarter 19-17 in a close contest.

However, Power rallied back in the second period to surge to an 18-11 score and thus head into halftime leading 35-30.

With the lead undulating from one side to another, Titans claimed the third set posting 21 points while Power were limited to just 07 and the Kansanga based side took a nine point cushion heading into the final quarter.

Power’s attempted comeback in the final quarter seemed futile as Titans held on to win 70-69 despite Power scoring 27 points in the final period.

Joseph Ikong had a game high 21 points but was not enough for Power to overcome KIU Titans. Michael Makiadi and Isaac Afidra also had double figures for Power scoring 14 and 12 points respectively.

On the other hand, Chris Omanye had a team high for Titans 15 points while Ivan Lumanyika and Henry Malinga also contributed 13 and 12 points respectively.

In the women’s game played Just Keep Living (JKL) Lady dolphins defeated last year’s runners up KCCA Leopards 58-45 to take advantage in game one.
