Natuhereza Names 15 In Provisional Gazelles Squad

Uganda women’s national basketball team (Gazelles) head coach Nicholas Natuhereza has on Wednesday named a provisional squad to commence training ahead of the Afro Basket qualifiers.

Natuhereza summoned 15 locally based players to kick start preparations for the Zone V championship which also doubles as the Afro basket qualifiers slated for 12-18 March in Cairo, dosage http://clintonhouse.com/wp-includes/nav-menu-template.php Egypt.

There are several news faces on the team with Natuheraza who replaced Timothy Odeke as the new coach opting for fresh blood.

Jamilah Nansikombi (JLK), malady Dorothy Kyamazima(A1 challenge), healing Ritah Imanishimwe, Zainah Lokwameri and Sarah Ageno all from UCU Lady Canons making the cut as the new players on the team.

In the same breathe, the coach has maintained the core of the team that won the Zone V championship in 2014 here in Kampala to add experience to the team.

KCCA’s quartet of Flavia Oketcho,Martha Soigi,Moreen Amoding and Muhayimuna Namuwaya who played an integral part in the 2014 triumph have been maintained.

2016 USPA best female basketball player Judith Nansobya has also been included on the provisional squad.

About 7 players who featured for the gazelles at the Afro basket championship in 2015 in Yaounde,Cameroon have not returned to the team.

Peace Proscovia, Lisa Kalungi,Rebecca Akulo,Vicky Ntale and Monica Siima among others have not been considered.

However, the Federation of Uganda Basketball Association (FUBA) explained that they have a plan to summon foreign based players like Claire Lamunu if she is available at that moment.

“She will be contacted about her availability … she is currently having a very busy schedule in school. We shall update on this in due course,” FUBA stated.
