Wanainchi 5-1 Simba

Opio Thomas grabbed a brace as Wanainchi beat Simba by 5-1 in the Men’s National Hockey League.

Simba who were already 2 goals down by halftime managed to pull a goal back courtesy of Andrew Lubega but a strong performance from Wanainchi saw Baguma Emma and Jerome Owori get their names on the scoresheet before Opio sealed the victory.

Lazarus  Epodolot received marching orders from the umpire for an unsportsmanlike act when he threw a stick into the crowd.

In the ladies game, Deliverance Church Uganda lost 7-2 to Wanainchi with Josephine De Rider scoring a hat trick.

In the Saturday competitions, League debutants Rhinos lost 1-0 to Kampala Hockey Club.

Ashiraf Tumwesigye scored the lone goal of the game at the hour mark after a goalless first half.

The result leaves unbeaten Kampala HC on top with 12 points from their 4 wins as Rockets who have lost their 3 games remain rock bottom.

The ladies game saw Judith Mirembe score twice and Melisa Namuleme get the other as Nassiwa Margaret’s Kampala HC sweep aside Rhinos.
