Rockets 1-8 Wanainchi

The 2017 Uganda National hockey league continued on both Saturday and Sunday with both Men and Ladies teams in action at the Astroturf National Hockey stadium in Lugogo.

On Sunday, Men’s defending champions Wanainchi, registered their first win of the campaign in a less competitive 8-1 victory against Rockets Hockey club.

Thomas Opio took Wanainchi in the driving seat as early as the 4th minute, Joshua Gumisiriza hit a double to make it 3-0 but Shafiq Muleme responded for the Rockets to keep their hopes alive at the break.

Gumisiriza scored twice in the second half to add on goals from Owori, Baguma and Achaye as Wanainchi cruised to a comfortable 8-1 victory.

Rockets who lost their league opener against Simba by 5-0 recently, are still bottom of the 5 team log with 3 losses.

On Saturday, Weatherhead came from a goal down to take maximum points as Kasasa Vincent and Tushabe Moses were on target in a 2-1 victory against Simba.

In the Saturday ladies game, Mbabazi Doreen scored a brace as Rhinos were swept aside by Wanainchi ladies by 5-0.
