Nakawa: Man Convicted for Murdering Own Brother

Kitaka hiding his face as he's led out of court on Thursday

Nakawa High court judge Damali Lwanga has convicted a one Robert Kitaka, ambulance a resident of Bbira village in Wakiso district for murdering his cousin brother Henry Kiddu.

Kitaka is said to have killed his brother using acid on 15th February 2015 at Bbira, page Nakabugo Parish as the deceased was returning home.

Earlier, link prosecution through medical experts had confirmed to court that Kiddu died of corrosive substances that got into contact with his body.

Dr Sam Kalungi informed court that the acid was poured onto Kaddu’s neck, skull, and chest and he had no chance of survival.

Before being admitted to hospital with severe injuries, the deceased according to prosecution witnesses informed his family that it was his brother who came to his house and attacked him with the acid. The duo reportedly had a longstanding misunderstanding.

More witnesses also told court that the at his death bed, when the accused came to visit him, Kaddu tried to grab him, asking why he had decided to take away his life. An audio recording was also provided to this effect.

“Prosecution has succeeded in proving all ingredients for murder in this case; I therefore convict you Mr. Kitaka of murder,” stated judge Lwanga.

The judge set Tuesday 19th of July 2016 as the date to deliver her sentence since both the defense and that state were not for the sentence on Thursday.
