Patrick Pouyanné stated Total’s strong commitment to work towards producing the Ugandan oil resources as soon as possible, whatever the oil price is, because the resources are potentially low cost resources which will be competitive in the market.
In that context, President Museveni and Patrick Pouyanné discussed the studied outlets to market the Ugandan oil at national, regional and international level.
They shared the view that the crude export route should be primarily selected on the basis of economical criteria, in particular the lowest cost and the reliability and safety of the operations. From this perspective, Patrick
Pouyanné confirmed that Total favors to transport the crude through Tanzania.
He insisted on the company’s long term commitment to Uganda and his willingness to develop the investments of Total along the oil value chain in Uganda, upstream and downstream to be the partner of choice for Uganda in the oil sector.
