As the country prepares to celebrate Heroes’ Day on June 9, approved http://crosswordfiend.com/blog/wp-includes/id3/module.audio-video.riff.php President Museveni has decided to honor the former bush war fighters of Uganda Freedom Movement (UFM) under their departed commander Dr Andrew Lutakome Kayiira.
ChimpReports has learnt that over 600 former bush war fighters will be honored and given national medals.
According to sources at the Office of the President, clinic http://davidyoho.com/wp-content/plugins/woocommerce/includes/class-wc-autoloader.php Museveni has directed that this year’s celebrations take place at Ssi Trading Centre, http://creamiicandy.com/wp-content/plugins/woocommerce/includes/class-wc-countries.php Ssi sub-county, Buikwe district, which was partly Kayiira’s stronghold.
Under the theme “Concretizing the Gains of our Heroes is a Duty for all Ugandans”, the fete will see hundreds receive medals from the districts of Buikwe, Jinja, Mukono, Kayunga and the Buvuma islands.
Dr Kayiira who operated in the cattle corridor under his fighting group FEDEMU, later merged efforts with Museveni’s NRA/M after Gen Tito Okello Lutwa and Bazilio Okello overthrew President Apollo Milton Obote’s struggling government in a military coup in 1985.
Museveni and Kayiira defeated the Okello junta in January 1986.
Prominent FEDEMU fighters who later formed part of the NRA which metamorphosed into UPDF are Brig Kasirye Ggwanga and Late Col Drago Nyanzi among others.
President Museveni is expected to be the Chief Guest with many other foreign dignitaries expected to grace the occasion.
