Kabale district is to host the eighth international community of the Banyakigezi –ICOB-U convention.

Dr Peter Ngategize, ambulance the chairperson of ICOB-U says a health camp and exhibition, sports activities like football tournament among the five districts that form the Kigezi sub region, cultural performances among others are some of the activities lined up for the convention.
President Yoweri Museveni is expected to grace the convention on 29th December 2016 where he will launch the Paulo Ngorogoza Scholarship Fund.
The International Community of the Banyakigezi–ICOB- brings all the people from the Kigezi sub region that live in Uganda as well as in the Diaspora out of the arising need to promote the cultural, social and economic development of the region.
It started in 2009 with the Governor Bank of Uganda Prof Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile as its first chairperson.
The previous convention was held in 2014 in Rukungiri while that for last year was cancelled due to the general elections, for fear that it would be exploited by politicians.
