Museveni, SPLM Factions Deliberate on Re-Unification

President Yoweri Museveni has met and held a meeting at State House, medicine Entebbe, order with the 3 Sudanese People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) factions, SPLM in Government, SPLM in Opposition and former detainees.

According to the communique arising from a mediation meeting of SPLM South Sudan factions chaired on Thursday by President Museveni, the meeting was to mediate on the Sudanese People’s Liberation Army {SPLA} re-unification of the South Sudan factions.

The meeting followed the request by President Salva Kiir Mayardit of South Sudan to President Museveni to mediate on the SPLA re-unification of the factions.

The communiqué says that meeting deliberated on the SPLM re-unification and a number of other issues and resolved to form a working committee that was tasked task to work out a road map for the implementation of the Arusha Agreement with a view to ending the war and plan for peace.

The Chief mediator of the Sudanese SPLM factions President Museveni, who is also the current Chairman East African Community, according to communiqué, will determine the date and the venue of the next meeting.

The deliberations of yesterday’s meeting included a number officials namely Jemma Nunu Kumba, Kosti Manibe, M. Pagan Amum Okiech, Daniel Awet Akot, Simon Kun Pouch, Dr. Dhieu Mathok Diing Wol, Ambassador Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth, Michael Chiangjjek Gaey, Pagan Amum Okiech, Kosti Manibe Ngai, Dr. Majak D`Agoot and Ambassador Samuel Luate Leminsuk of South Sudan to Uganda.

Hon. Betty Atuku Bigombe of Uganda attended as an observer and Technical Advisor.
