The head of the Catholic Church, what is ed Pope Francis has sent a message to Kenya and Uganda ahead of his visit to East Africa from November 25 to 29, 2015.

As I prepare to visit Kenya and Uganda, I send a word of greetings and friendship to you and your families. I look forward to this time we will have together.

I am coming as a minister of the Gospel to proclaim the love of Jesus Christ and his message of reconciliation, forgiveness and peace.

My visit is meant to confirm the Catholic community in its worship of God and its witness to the gospel which teaches the dignity of every man and woman and commands to open our hearts to poor and those in need.

At the same time, I wish to encounter all the people of Kenya and Uganda and to offer everyone a word of encouragement.

We are living at a time when religious believers, and persons of good will everywhere, are called to foster mutual understanding and respect, and to support each other as members of our one human family.

A highlight of my visit will be my meetings with the young people who are your greatest resource and our most promising hope for a future of solidarity, peace and progress.

I know that many people are working hard to prepare for my visit and I thank them.

I ask everyone to pray that my stay in Kenya and Uganda will be a source of hope and encouragement of all.

Upon you and your families I invoke God’s blessing of joy and peace.
President Museveni has blasted Kitgum Woman Member of Parliament and FDC’s Beatrice Atim Anywar for what he termed as betraying him and joining his closest rival and fellow presidential contestant Amama Mbabazi.

FDC’s Anywar was early this month part of the team that endorsed Mbabazi as he was nominated by the Electoral Commission to  stand for presidency at Namboole.

Addressing supporters at a rally at the Boma grounds in Kitgum Municipality on Sunday afternoon, pills Museveni said that he had worked closely with ‘Maama Mabira’ in the fight against the nodding disease and they were good friends but wondered why she had  turned against him at the last moment.

“I was working well with my daughter Anywar . When she was being attacked by people, I used to defend her but she has deserted me for Mbabazi. It is not good payment from her for my support,” President Museveni said on Sunday.

He added,” It is not good to have an adulterous daughter like Anywar. I am never afraid of people who betray me because I know how to deal with them. ”

Museveni urged the people of Kitgum not to vote for opposition politicians in the area including Anywar adding that they should reward the NRM party for bringing peace to the area which he said has contributed to development of the whole of Northern Uganda.

He said northern Uganda should be witness to other areas for being transformed from a war ravaged area to a developed one   that many people are yearning to live in.

He cited the roads, electricity and a number of schools both secondary and primary that the area has got after the end of the Kony war that had led to death of many people as well as leaving others displaced.

“In 1961 when I was in my S.1 at Ntale School in Mbarara, we used to have many students coming from the Northern region and this was because the area had only one secondary school that ended at O-level forcing them to come to Ntale. I am now happy that Kitgum alone has 19 government aided secondary schools,” the president noted.

Museveni however noted that many of the roads in the area are not yet tarmacked but promised that plans are underway to ensure that each district gets its own road maintenance equipment including graders, wheel loaders, tippers and compacters to enforce those already in existence in a bid to ensure the roads are in good condition.

President Museveni who completed his campaign schedule for Northern Uganda will on Monday head to the Karamoja sub region.
