President Yoweri Museveni has called on women in the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Busoga Sub-Region in particular and all Ugandans at large to work hard with the target of eradicating household poverty.
“Work hard and ensure that you eradicate poverty. The Government injects Shs.360 million per annum in the Operation Wealth Creation Programme. The President made the call when he received and met a delegation of 100 Seventh Day Adventist Church women from Busoga Sub-Region who called on him yesterday at State House, remedy http://clasharama.com/wp-admin/includes/class-pclzip.php Entebbe, led by Mrs. Mary Namuluma Kyebambe.
Museveni was pleased to note that members of the SDA Church were not hypocrites. He observed that they were a community that maintains discipline. He informed the guests that he personally benefited from the SDA Church when he received his infant education from their school which was the nearest one to his home. He noted that the Church has helped several young people in their efforts to access education.
While making reference to modern agricultural methods, he gave the example of Mr. Jjuko of Bukomansimbi who has irrigated 6 acres of coffee by harvesting water from his roof. He revealed that the coffee farmer has recorded good performance since he launched the irrigation system in the central region. He assured the delegation that the NRM Government would facilitate the people in accessing irrigation equipment. He suggested that those who are well off can purchase their own equipment.
President Museveni cautioned them over the vice of going against God’s creation by destroying water bodies and wet lands. He called on the people who are in the wet lands to vacate them voluntarily. He reiterated that we must protect the environment in line with God’s creation for the benefit of all wananchi.
He pledged a donation of a car for the SDA Bishop of the region who is based in Mbale. He also pledged a donation of Ush 50 million for the Busoga Women SDA SACCO. He further pledged to give them a pick-up truck to facilitate the operations of the SACCO.
The leader of the SDA Busoga women delegation Mrs. Mary Namuluma Kyebambe saluted President Museveni for supporting all Ugandans irrespective of their religion or tribe. She paid him glowing tribute for having eliminated sectarianism from the country. She revealed that the SDA Church gave him overwhelming support during the recent Presidential elections.
She thanked him for all the national development efforts especially the Operation Wealth creation Program.
