President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the Government Chief Whip Ruth Nankabirwa have unprecedentedly cancelled a meeting scheduled for the National Resistance Movement party Caucus members.
ChimpReports established last evening that the Caucus sitting that was scheduled for Wednesday afternoon was abruptly called off without reasons.
On Friday last week the office of the Government Chief Whip sent out messages to all NRM MPs and ministers for the meeting.
The agenda of the meeting was not given out but this website reliably learnt that it was for the unveiling of the names of parliamentary commissioners, approved http://clubebancariositape.com.br/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/json-endpoints/class.wpcom-json-api-get-media-endpoint.php chairpersons of committees and membership to
continental and world parliaments, pharmacy chosen by the last Central Executive Committee sitting.
The CEC meeting on Wednesday chaired by Museveni resolved on the above positions.
According to sources, all the 296 NRM members wanted positions from cabinet to parliamentary leadership.
Many of them were heartbroken when their names failed to appear in the Cabinet list of 31 full and 49 state ministers.
The disappointed MPs nonetheless remained hopeful for consolations in chairing committees or even joining the esteemed Commission table which is the highest decision making organ of the
country’s national assembly.
“Majority of our members (NRM MPs) had expectations to be elevated the moment they were sworn in. Obviously all of them couldn’t be accommodated in Cabinet and even the positions in Parliament cannot absorb all,” a source in the party leadership said.
President Museveni and Nankabirwa were expected to explain to the dismayed NRM MPs today, the reasons for CEC’s decision to appoint the commissioners and chairpersons and why other people were left out.
“There was a realization that the meeting would ‘explode’ and definitely the whole thing had to be avoided,” another source said.
When contacted on phone on Tuesday evening, Ms. Nankabirwa confirmed that the Caucus assembly has been called off without giving reasons.
“We don’t have any meeting tomorrow. Or let me tell you locally that the meeting is cancelled,” she said with no further addition.
The NRM leadership has tightly kept the names of the appointed chairpersons away from the media and the MPs themselves.
The only names that leaked out were for the commissioners and Pan African Parliament members that were first published on ChimpReports.
The former Deputy Government Chief Whip, Peter Ogwang who is also the MP for Usuk county was appointed commissioner together with workers MP Arinaitwe Rwakajara and Kibale woman representative Robina Nabanja.
Those to be sent to South Africa for Pan African Parliament are Dokolo county MP Felix Okot Ogong, Sembabule woman MP Hanifa Kawoya and Ngora women representative Jackline Amoding.
