Museveni Launches Construction of Kyenjojo-Kabwoya Road

Museveni said the people of Bunyoro should use the road to improve their household incomes

The road will cost Shs 214bn and will be completed in 36 months, according to UNRA.

Officials said road is part of the Kyenjojo- Hoima – Masindi –Kigumba road project that covers 238 km.

The contract was awarded to a Chinese firm, Shengly Engineering Co. Ltd.

The President said government will continue with the construction of roads in the Albertine region and that construction works for the Mubende – Kakumiro – Kibaale road will soon be launched.

“Government is to acquire more road construction machinery for the maintenance of murrum roads in the country,” said Museveni while addressing a public gathering at Kagadi Model primary School in Kagadi Town Council, Kibaale District on Saturday.

President Museveni assured the people that Bunyoro roads will be constructed in phases using equipment secured from Japan.

Bunyoro region has some of the worst roads in the country, keeping people in poverty.

The World Bank representative, Ms Christina Calve, said the road will enhance the social-economic well being of people in the Albertine region, improve access market and create jobs for the youth.
