Fr. Kabasharira succumbed to respiratory failure in Nsambya Hospital on Thursday morning.
President Yoweri Museveni in his message that was read for him by the Rubanda East Member of Parliament Henry Ariganyira Musasizi at the requiem mass, this site praisedthe contributions of the Episcopal Vicar to the church and education in South Western Uganda.
Kabasharira was a known educationist and philanthropist, who Museveni said was an icon in supporting needy but bright students under his education scheme to get education by paying schools fees.
“He had amassed a lot of wealth but he generously shared it with the needy young ones in Uganda and Rwanda.
The Bishop of Kabale Diocese Rt. Rev. Fr. Callistus Rubaramira said that people should take the late Kabasharira as an example by working without discrimination.
A tearful Bishop Callistus Rubaramira described the deceased as a hardworking servant who liked doing nearly everything by himslef.
“His deeds are greater than him; many think that building this country is the work of ministers and government officials. All of you should never underestimate your work in bringing about change to society,”
The body of the deceased was later laid to rest and graced by Members of parliament including, Denis Sabiiti of Rubanda West, Prossy Akampurira Begumisa, Paula Turyahikayo of Rubabo county, the Arch-Bishop of Mbarara Arch Diocese Paul K Bakyenga, Auxiliary Bishop of Mbarara Lambert Beinomugisha, Tycoon Musinguzi Garuga among others.
The late Fr Kabasharira was ordained a priest from Rome in 1970 by Pope Pius xi, and served as a chaplain at Mutolere secondary school, Headmaster of St Mary’s college Rushoroza, Vicar general and Treasurer, Rector at St Paul’s Seminary Rushoroza, and Katigondo Major National Seminary, Episcopal Vicar. He died at the age of 75.
