As part of the celebrations to mark Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II’s 60th birthday, President Yoweri Museveni has donated a brand new vehicle to the King of Buganda.
The new Toyota Land Cruiser, estimated at around at Shs 280 million, Museveni said was to support the King’s development chores around his kingdom.
Kabaka Mutebi today joined his subjects to mark his 60th birthday at the Kingdom Headquarters in Bulange Mengo.
The gift was presented on behalf of the president by Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Sekandi amidst ululations.
President Museveni on top of the new wheels sent an undisclosed amount of money to Kabaka Mutebi, which was handed by the VP at the function.
Ssekandi said Museveni wished to attend in person but was held by other commitments.
In his speech, the Vice President hailed the Kabaka for his efforts in fostering development in his Kingdom.
He also hailed Buganda and the kingdom Prime Minister Charles Peter Mayiga for nurturing harmony between Buganda and her neighboring kingdoms across the country.
The function was attended by the King of Tooro Oyo Nyimba Kamba Iguru IV as well as representatives from Ankole and other kingdoms.
At the event, the Kabaka was handed his grand birthday gift the Masengere building, whose completion according to PM Mayiga, cost around Shs5bn.
