President Museveni commissioned the new Petroleum Authority of Uganda and the National Oil Company

He said that the private sector has expressed concern over the theoretic approach which has affected the competence of graduates.

“Our curriculum at universities does not provide the skilling. We need innovations that will be able to solve the ordinary Ugandan’s common problems not the sophisticated prototypes we’ve seen over and over again” he said.

He also agitated for more exposure to the industry by students and the need for students to have professional mentors to guide and shape their academic undertakings. In his message delivered by the Minister, Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda placed emphasis on the essential role of research and technology in the development of every country as well as creating employment.

“The private sector should empower technology support and adopt better ways of recruiting graduates with local technological solutions” read the Premier’s statement.

The Principal College of Engineering, Design Art and Technology Dr. Henry Arinaitwe said that the annual event is aimed at showcasing the college’s ideas and products.

He however highlighted existing setbacks such as low lecture-student ratio, inadequate remuneration and low funding which cripples facilities.

Students from the different schools use the event to exhibit their works but most of them still remain dissatisfied by the meager funds government commits to support their innovations.

President Museveni recently promised to increase the innovation funding as well as establishing hubs where developers can incubate their ideas.

When she failed, police says, she was waylaid and dragged to an unknown place where the four tortured her and upon rescue by authorities, she died on the way to hospital.

“We have the four at S.I.U Kireka; they include Mohammed Ssebufu, Steven Lwanga, Godfrey Kaiza and Phillip Mulembe, they are currently being questioned by our CIID officers on the death of the woman,” said Patrick Onyango the police spokesperson Kampala metropolitan.

According to the President’s Press Secretary, Linda Nabusayi, the National Petroleum Authority is headed by Dr. Jane Mulemwa.

Other members include; Mr. Reuben Kashambuzi, Dr. Immaculate Semanda Nakimera, Mr. Peter Lominit, Mrs Doreen Kabasindi Wandera, Eng. Patrick Nakoko and Mr. Kiryowa Kiwanuka.

The Petroleum Authority is responsible for licensing, regulating and  supervising of exploration, harvesting, refining, marketing and disposal of petroleum products in the country.

The National Oil Company is headed by Mr. Emmanuel Katongole.

Its members include, Mr. Francis Nagimesi, Ms. Batebe Irene, Mr. Twinamatsiko Francis, Ms. Grace Tubwita, Mr. Godfrey Andama and Ms. Stella Marie Biwaga .

The National Oil Company was incorporated to take charge of the commercial interests of the state within the oil and gas industry.

Its responsibilities include managing business aspects of state participation and developing in-depth expertise in the oil and gas industry.

The company was officially incorporated under the Companies Act, 2012, by the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) on June 12, 2015.
