Supporters of Ruhinda county Member of Parliament, Capt. Donzio Kahonda have been allowed access to State House Entebbe where they had earlier camped at the gate.
Scores of supporters of the now jailed legislator, spent Thursday night at a hotel we have withheld the names, with a single mission of storming State House and making sure they meet President Yoweri Museveni today.
They were however, stopped by Special Forces Command soldiers on Friday morning when they arrived but they unrelentingly camped at the gate.
ChimpReports has learned that at midday Museveni agreed to meet the team agitating for the release of their MP and the president subsequently ordered the security to allow them in.
“The group has been allowed in. Mzee is going to meet them later today,” a source at State House said.
The meeting is however expected to take place late in the evening.
On Thursday Kahonda’s supporters were aggrieved by the inaction at Jinja High court, which declined to hear the legislator’s bail application.
Judge Eva Luswata said the hearing of the case couldn’t happen because of the absence of state prosecutors currently striking over little pay.
Kahonda was convicted and imprisoned for 9 months over forgery of academic documents that he used to join the army.
His supporters believe the legislator is politically being haunted by his rival, Justice Minister Kahinda Otafiire who he defeated in last parliamentary elections.
