Muntu, Mafabi to Face Off as FDC Calls for Contestants in Party Presidential Race

The forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has Monday called upon party members all over the country to pick nomination forms the party president seat.

The head of the party’s Electoral Commission FDC Dan Mugarura said all those with intentions to run can pick the forms starting July 10th, after paying a Shs 5million nonrefundable fee. This fee was upped from 2million by the party NEC last week.

All party members with an A level certificate are qualified for the race.

Mugarura told press today that they decided to increase the nomination fee because they only want contestants to prove that they are self-sustaining even after winning the seat.

Mugarura revealed that far three people have expressed interest in the top party position.

“So far three people have expressed interest in the top party leadership, among them is President Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu whose tenure expires on November 22nd, FDC Secretary General Nathan Nandala Mafabi and former Kumi country MP Patrick Amunat Oboi”.

Mugarura also revealed a few changes have been made in the previously issued road map as follows;

Picking of nomination forms will be from 10th July to 12 August.

Nominations for party president will take place on 14th August to 15 August.

Harmonizing on the campaign program by party EC and the candidates agents 16th August.

Open campaigns 17th August

National Delegate’s conference to elect FDC party president 17th November

Swearing in 18th November.
