Lawyers representing Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere have lashed at the Commissioner General of Prisons Dr. Johnson Byabashaija for disrespecting court.
On February 20, viagra approved http://clubmedics.com/wp-includes/class-wp-customize-panel.php Jinja Chief Magistrate Francis Kaggwa on the request of Omusinga’s lawyers led by Caleb Alaka asked Dr. Byabashaija to appear before court to explain refusal by prisons to transfer Rwenzururu premier and other 4 suspects to Luzira for medication.
However, on Monday, Dr. Byabashaija sent SSP Naatukunda Aliyo who is the head of the prisons legal team and Dr. James Kisambu (Head of health) to represent him in court.
These 2 told court that the Rwenzururu Prime minister Thembo Kitsumbire and his other co-accused had been transfered to Luzira as had been ordered.
However, this didn’t go well with the defence lawyers led by Alaka who accused Byabashaija of disrespecting court by sending a representative.
“When a court order is issued, it goes to an individual not the entire institution,”Alaka said.
“It was him (Byabashaija) summoned and not his assistants or anyone else. We are grateful they have complied but we wanted him personally.”
The lawyers fumed that it was a sign of disrespect and taking court for granted for the prisons boss to send representatives.
However, when court ended, there was a heated argument between the lawyers and the prison’s boss representatives outside court.
Both sides were seen accusing each other of not being honest.
Speaking to ChimpReports later, Dr. James Kisambu, the head of health services in the Uganda Prisons said they had never received any directive asking them to transfer the Rwenzururu premier to Luzira for treatment.
“An order has to be written and signed but we never saw anything like that,” Dr. Kisambu said.
“We were never supplied with any order as they claim.”
