The judge said on this matter, that its the responsibility of government to ensure peace and stability in all parts of the country.

On the argument that if freed, the king could flee the country, the judge said this is not possible because Mumbere doesn’t have a passport after all his documents were destroyed during the November 27th 2016 attack on his Kasese Palace by the national security organs.

“Despite having told court that he has a following of about 7 million people, there’s no evidence that he can vanish in thin air once released, “said Luswata.

Mumbere was thus freed on a non-cash bond of Shs. 100 million and the same amount for each of the 6 sureties.

“I have allowed his application with stringent conditions to be followed by the applicant,” ruled the judge.

Mumbere was stood surety by Parliament’s  Leader of Opposition Winnie Kiiza, MPs  William Nzoghu (Busongora North) Atkins Katusabe (Bukonzho County West), Robert Centenary (Kasese Municipality), Muhindo Tonny Harold (Bukonzho County East) and Constantine Bwambale, a former Prime Minister for Obusinga bwa Rwenzururu as sureties for Omusinga.

Today’s session was also attended the Rwenzururu Queen,Agnes Ithungu, Mother of the King Christine Mukirane, Kasese Mps and other subjects.
