Mukono Parents Win 2016 Boys School Cricket Week

Despite the final between Jinja Secondary school and Mukono Parents not being played after heavy rains in Kampala on Friday, physician the Mukono based school were crowned champions of the 2016 Pepsi boy’s school cricket week.

Mukono Parents were crowned winners after amassing the highest number of points collected over the five games played in the group stages.

The Frank Nsubuga coached side collected 70 points in group B winning all their games while Jinja SS had an inferior 49 points that saw them finish second in group A.

After a heavy downpour in Kampala on Friday that rained through the whole afternoon, drug the Lugogo cricket Oval was deemed unplayable and Mukono Parents were announced winners on points.

Jinja SS had shocked record champions Busoga College Mwiri in the semifinals at Lugogo to book a berth in the finals. Mwiri had 88/9 compared to Jinja SS 89/4 hence the latter won by six wickets.

In the other semifinal played at the Kyambogo Cricket oval, Mukono Parents eased past Nyakasura High school with 190/2 against Nyakasura’s 72/8 hence winning with 118 runs.

Mukono’s Zephaniah Arinaitwe who recorded a total of 455 runs and 15 in seven games was crowned player of the series.
